Frequently asked questions

What is nisab?

Nisab is the wealth threshold (equivalent to 85 g of gold or 595 g of silver) above which Zakat becomes due. Below it, no Zakat is owed.

How is Zakat calculated?

Zakat is 2.5% of your zakatable wealth (savings, gold, stocks, minus deductible debts), once you're above nisab and a lunar year (hawl) has passed.

Which school (madhhab) should I choose?

The calculation follows the school you select (Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, or the AAOIFI standard) — each has its own nisab and debt-deduction rules. Pick the one for your country or usual reference.

Does this calculator replace a scholar's opinion?

No. This is an illustrative calculation, based on the public data of the school you choose — it never replaces the opinion of that school's religious authority.

Is my data saved?

No — nothing is saved. The calculation runs entirely in your browser; only your email, if you leave one, is kept.
