Fourth movement of the Namup method

Live

Spend the rest freely, without guilt.

What is left after honouring and building is spent without explaining yourself.

And here is the figure the whole method was built to produce.

One amount, to be spent freely, all month, with no second thought. That is the Available, and it is the only figure the method asks anyone to carry. Honour what you owe, keep enough to dream on, then live on what remains.

It is spent without guilt and without ending the month overdrawn, because everything was settled upstream. The commitments are honoured. The plans move on their own. What is left is not there to be watched, it is there to be lived. That is the gentlest reversal in the method, and it is the exact opposite of expense tracking, which turns every small pleasure into a minor offence to be logged.

The amount makes nobody the wealthiest person in the room, least of all at the beginning. What it gives is different in kind. Spending three times as much while your plans slide from one month to the next is not freedom either, though it looks like it from the outside.

Because this is about freedom, not about standard of living. Real wealth is not the size of the figure. It is deciding your own time and your own gestures.

The same household, at this movement

What remains is 1,900, to be spent freely until the month is out. This household watches nothing and explains itself to nobody, because everything that had to be settled was settled before the month began.
